PTBA secures loan from BNI to finance PLTU Banjarsari

Subsidiary of PT Bukit Asam (PTBA) signs loan facility with Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) worth US$ 219.79 million to finance the construction of steam power plant (PLTU) Banjarsari with capacity of 2 x 100 megawatt, located in Lahat Regency, South Sumatera.

The power plant will be developed by PT Bukit Pembangkit Innovative (BPI), which is 59.75 percent owned by PT Bukit Asam. The loan was signed on September 15, 2011.

The contractor for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the plant has been awarded to China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd (CNEEC), a leading EPC contractor from China.

Meanwhile, contractor for developing transmission line from PLTU Banjarsari to Induk Lahat distribution center along 24 kilometers is PT Citacontrac.

The PLTU Banjarsari project is expected to be completed in mid 2014. The power plant is expected to help meet the electricity growing demands in southern part of Sumatera. (romel/roffie)
