IDX-listed coal mining giant PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) signed on Wednesday an agreement to sell excess power from its 2x8 MW Tarahan power plant to state-owned electricity firm PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the company said in a statement Wednesday.
Under the agreement, PTBA will sell between 4-10 MW of excess power to PLN for Rp 787.20 per Kwh for a period of 12 months. The contract can be extended for another 12 months, the company said.
The coal-fired power plant is mainly dedicated to support PTBA?s Tarahan coal port in Bandar Lampung. PTBA is currently in the process of expanding the capacity of the Tarahan port from 13 million tons per year to 25 million tons per year. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014.
