State-owned coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is still waiting for a proposal from China Mining Corporation (CMC) for the management of Ombilin deep coal mine in West Sumatra, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Friday edition.

Recently, CMC expressed its interest to operate the deep mine and promised to submit its proposal in September.

“We are still waiting at the moment,” PTBA ‘s company secretary Milawarma told the Investor Daily on Thursday in Jakarta,

Milawarma said CMC is a subsidiary of Genertech China, who earlier asked PTBA to grant some kind of contract mining. But that request was rejected by PTBA because their proposal was not in line with the criteria set by the PTBA.

Finally, CMC wanted to submit its offer with several options. (*)
