State coal PT Bukit Asam Tbk (IDX: PTBA) plans to begin operations of its Tanjung Enim–Keramasan railway route in June or July 2026, as part of efforts to expand logistics capacity and support long-term production growth.
President Director Arsal Ismail said the new route, which has a transport capacity of 20 million tonnes per year, will play a key role in helping the company achieve its production target of 100 million tonnes by 2030.
“Hopefully, Tanjung Enim–Keramasan will start operations in June or July this year,” he said on Monday.
The route will complement PTBA’s existing coal railway networks, including Tanjung Enim–Tarahan and Tanjung Enim–Kertapati.

PTBA has developed the coal loading facilities in Tanjung Enim, while PT Kereta Api Indonesia, through its subsidiary PT Kereta Api Logistik, will handle transportation and unloading at Keramasan Port.
The company recorded a 6% increase in coal transport volume in 2025, rising to 40.4 million tonnes from 38.2 million tonnes in 2024.
For 2026, PTBA has secured approval for a production volume of 49.5 million tonnes under its work plan and budget (RKAB), up from 47.2 million tonnes produced in 2025.
Of the total planned output, 54% is allocated to the domestic market, with the remaining 46% designated for export.
