PTBA teams up with Chinese firm to build Sumatra mine-mouth power plants

State coal miner PT Bukit Asam Tbk (Persero) and its Chinese firm partner China Huadian are teaming-up to build two mine-mouth power plants in South Sumatra with capacity of 2x300 MW and 2x600 MW, respectively, PTBA?s president director has said.

?Until now, (state electricity company) PT PLN has not announced the winner,? said Sukrisno, PTBA?s president director told Petromindo.Com recently, adding that only PTBA?s consortium which sent the proposals for the construction of the two power plants.

According to Sukrisno, PTBA passed PQ for tender to build 2 x 300 MW Sumatra Selatan-6 and 2 x 600 MW Sumatra Selatan-8 (before called South Sumatera - Java 1 mine-mouth power plant project).

Sukrisno said that he did not know when PLN would announce the winner of the projects.

In earlier PLN?s announcement, the winner of the tender will be given rights to operate the plant for 25 years under build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) scheme. (denny)
