State coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Tbk. (PTBA) through its trading subsidiary PT Bukit Asam Prima (BAP) will increase the trading activities or the purchase of coal to between two and three million tons this year from East Kalimantan and South Sumatra to help the company meet its revenue target, Investor Daily reported Thursday.
PTBA’s corporate secretary Eko Budiwidjayanto said in Jakarta Wednesday that since BAP was first established in April 2007, the company has increased the purchase of coal to one million tons.
According to Eko, the company’s revenue for 2007 is targeted to increase by 20 percent compared to Rp 3.53 trillion booked in 2006. The revenue is expected to be generated from the increase of sale volume that reaches 11 million tons, of which 10 million tons come from the internal production and the remaining one million ton from the trading.
“However, only 95 percent of the targeted 10 million tons will likely to be met due to coal train-related problem,” he said. (*)
