PTBA to develop power plants in Myanmar, Vietnam

IDX-listed coal giant PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) plans to develop coal-fired power plants in Myanmar and Vietnam, each with a capacity of 2x100 MW, Bisnis Indonesia reported Monday.
The paper quoted President Director of PTBA Milawarma as saying that total investment is projected at US$600 million, to be financed via a combination of bank loans and internal funds.
He said that expansion to the two countries forms part of the company's long term strategy to capitalize on the economic growth opportunities in the Southeast Asia region. (*)
