IDX-listed coal mining company PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) said that its coal-fired power plant projects with combined capacity of more than 1,500 MW are expected to come on stream by 2020.

?Our target is that by 2019 or 2020, we?ll already be operating more than 1,500 MW,? President Director Milawarma said late last week.

He said that the company has allocated Rp 3 trillion for capital expenditure this year, a large part of which to support its power plant projects.

Milawarma said that the company plans to begin construction this year of a number of power plant projects with combined capacity of 1,200 MW including the 80 MW project to support the planned ferronickel plant of IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk in Halmahera Timur, North Maluku.
