PTT eyeing to acquire Indonesia coal mines

Thai energy firm PTT Pcl is in the process of acquiring two coal mine concessions in Indonesia.

A Petromindo.Com source said on Monday that the company is currently conducting due diligence on two mining concessions located in Kalimantan and Sumatera.

The source said coal reserves in each concession amounted to more than 200 million tonnes. The source did not elaborate further.

PTT has stake in Singapore Exchange-listed coal miner Straits Asia Resources Limited which operates several mines in Indonesia including Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku in South Kalimantan and Jembayan Muarabara in East Kalimantan. (denny)
