Pulang Pisau power plant begins commercial operation

PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, said that the first unit of the 2x60 MW Pulang Pisau coal-fired power plant in Central Kalimantan has recently started commercial operation.

Located in Buntoi Village, Kahayan Hilir District, Kuala Kapuas Regency, the power plant is expected to help increase power supply in the Central and South Kalimantan provinces, PJB said in a statement obtained Wednesday.

The two provinces currently have installed capacity of 486 MW, and peak load of 485 MW.

Business Director for PLN Kalimantan region, Djoko R. Abumanan was quoted by this portal earlier that once the first unit has started commercial operation, trial operation for the second unit will begin.
