Power company PT Pupuk Energi Indonesia, a subsidiary of state-owned fertilizer firm PT Pupuk Indonesia, plans to acquire a 2x25 MW coal-fired power plant (PLTU) in Mamuju, West Sulawesi Province, belonging to PT Rekind Daya Mamuju, a subsidiary of state-owned engineering and construction firm PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind).
This was said by PI Energi Operation Director Kuntari L. Wahyuningdyah as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia on Friday.
Kuntari said that PI Energi currently operates a 35 MW gas-fired power plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan, supplying power and steam to the group?s ammonia plant in the province. The company is also in the process of completing a 22 MW gas-fired power plant project in Gresik, East Java, to supply electricity and steam to the group?s fertilizer plant in the province. The project is targeted to be completed later this year.
?We?re in the process of acquiring a PLTU with capacity of 2x25 MW. Hopefully, it (the acquisition) could be completed early next year. The PLTU is owned by Rekind Daya Mamuju,? she said, but did not provide further details about the planned transaction. (*)
