State-owned fertilizer company PT Pupuk Kujang plans to build a 30 MW coal-fired power plant at its manufacturing compound in Cikampek, West Java, to covert to cheaper source of energy.
Pupuk Kujang Director of Technique and Development Hanggara Patrianta told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that the company currently has a combined 30 MW gas power generation, plus standby diesel generator units.
He said that the planned switch to coal-fired power plant is made in anticipation of future increase in gas price.
Hanggara said the company plans to hold a tender, possibly early next year, to select contractor for the estimated US$200 million coal-fired power plant project.
