Pura Group has decided to temporarily suspend the construction of its 13.5 MW coal-fired power plant in Jati Kulon, Kudus regency, awaiting for the issuance of the building permit (IMB) for the power plant, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

The business group’s public relations official, Hasan Aoni Aziz, said in Semarang last week that the power project which had been 50 percent constructed had to be suspended because the local authority failed to issue the building permit as scheduled.

Pura which is involved in paper manufacturing and printing activities will use the power supply from its power plant for its own use and about 15,000 householders near the company’s location. The power plant will use about 350 tons of coal per day.

Hasan said that about 5.5 MW of power, which will be supplied to the local residents would be distributed in cooperation with the branch office of the state electricity company PLN. (*)
