Purchase price of biomass electricity up to Rp 1,000 per Kwh

The government has increased the purchase price by state-electricity firm PLN of electricity produced by biomass-based power plants to Rp 1,000 per Kwh from Rp 975 in a bid to lure new investment into the development of new and renewable energy sources, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Tuesday.
?We continue to push for the (biomass) electricity price to be more attractive. I promise to also sign a ministerial regulation for the increase in the purchase price of electricity produced by solar and micro hydro power plants soon,? said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik on Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony for a biomass power plant in Bangli, Bali.
He said that under the current prices, it?s difficult for investors to gain profit in investing in power plants based on new and renewable energy sources. (*)
