Wednesday, September 11 2002 - 09:31 AM WIB

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro on Wednesday held talks with senior executives of oil and gas firms, which aimed to find ways for ending acute natural gas shortage in East Java.

The executives included those from Amerada Hess, Mobil Cepu and state oil and gas firm Pertamina. Also attending the meeting were officials of state electricity company PLN.

?We will discuss about gas supply for East Java,? Purnomo told reporters at his office where the meeting took place.

Gas shortage has continued in East Java over the past months, and the situation had been caused by significant drop in natural gas supply from BP?s Kangean Block in East Java, due to gas reserve depletion. (godang)
