Purnomo opens int'l mining conference

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro Wednesday opened the 11th international mining conference and exhibition organized by Indonesian Mining Association (IMA).

Participants in the four-day event will discuss future challenges faced by mining firms operating in Indonesia, IMA chairman Benny Wahyu told reporters.

Among the participants are president directors of major mining firms like Noke Kiroyan (Kaltim Prima Coal), Jeffrey Mulyono (Berau Coal) and Adrianto Magribi (Freeport Indonesia).

Several cabinet ministers and other high-ranking officials are scheduled to address the conference including Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, State Minister of Environment Nabiel Makarim, State Minister of the Acceleration of Eastern Provinces Manuel Kaisiepo and Geology and Mineral Resources Director General Wimpy S.
