Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Friday the government had no plan to raise domestic fuel prices for March.

?Fuel prices for March will not be increased,? the minister told reporters.

The government had not raised fuel prices for February.

On January 2, the government increased fuel prices by up to 22 percent following on a rise in electricity and telephone surcharges by as much as 15 percent the day before.

Public anger later caused the government to reduce fuel and electricity prices.

Starting from March 2002, domestic prices of fuel products, except kerosene for households, are set monthly based on the price of Mid Oil Platts Singapore (MOPS). However, the government also set a floor price and ceiling price to anticipate sharp fluctuation in the international price. (godang)
