Purnomo to visit Mexico late March

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Monday he would visit Mexico late next month during which he would lobby for selling Indonesia?s liquefied natural gas (LNG) to that country.

Purnomo said he would submit a letter from President Megawati Soekarnoputri to Mexican President Vicente Fox who had planned to come to Indonesia later this year.

He said Indonesia?s LNG could be shipped to The Baja California Regional Energy Center near which the Mexican government would develop an industrial center.

The Baja complex is expected to be designed with a capacity to regasify as much as 750 million cubic feet per day of LNG to meet local needs and for export to southern California.

Indonesia is in negotiations with US investors to market its LNG from would be developed Donggi field in Central Sulawesi to the West Coast of the United States. (godang)
