Puskud Kalsel, the central cooperative unit of South Kalimantan, will carry out coal mining activities in its concession area of about 1,200 hectares in Sungai Danau, Kotabaru regency, Banjarmasin Post reported on Friday.
Puskud Kalsel?s chairman HM Husni said that the province?s central cooperative unit would cooperate with Inkud Jakarta, the central office of village cooperative unit in the marketing of the coal to be produced from the Sungai Danau area.
"We are still calculating the amount of the fund needed for the coal mining project," he said, adding that the expansion into coal mining activities was needed because its main business in the sales of kerosene did no longer provide good returns due to growing competition from other companies. (*)
