Qatar to supply LPG, LNG to Indonesia

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina will get LPG and LNG supplies from Qatar's state owned firm Qatar Petroleum to meet the domestic demand.

The supply agreement was reached during a meeting between Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Darwin Z. Saleh and Qatar's Energy Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah on the sidelines of the 155th (Extraordinary) Meeting of OPEC Conference in Luanda, Angola on Dec. 22, 2009, Pertamina said in a statement on Monday.

The LPG from Qatar will be used to meet the growing demand on the domestic market as a consequence of the kerosene-to-LPG conversion program, while the LNG will feed the floating storage and regasification unit (FRSU), Pertamina said.

The firm did not specify the FRSU that will get the LNG supplies, but Pertamina together with state owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) and state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN)

When contacted via cellphone for confirmation, Pertamina's Director of Marketing Achmad Faisal told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that Pertamina would get the LPG and LNG supplies from traders rather than directly from Qatar Petroleum. (Godang)
