The Supreme Court of Queensland has ruled in favour of BUMA Australia Pty Ltd in a contractual dispute related to a contract mining agreement, the company said on Tuesday.
BUMA Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of mining services company PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA), which operates under IDX-listed holding company PT BUMA Internasional Grup Tbk (IDX: DOID).
The court decision affirms BUMA Australia’s entitlement to receive outstanding invoiced payments and end-of-contract reconciliation amounts, to be determined in accordance with the provisions of the contract mining agreement.
In its judgment, the court examined several commercial issues, including the interpretation of contractual variations for additional hired mining fleets, the methodology for calculating end-of-contract reconciliation, and claims related to coal quality and associated payment entitlements. The court accepted BUMA Australia’s interpretation of the relevant contractual terms on these matters.

BUMA Australia said the ruling reflects its commitment to delivering mining services in line with its contractual obligations.
The company said the final amount to be received will be determined following post-judgment processes, including contractual reconciliation in line with the court’s findings, and is expected to be material. Subject to completion of these processes, BUMA Australia expects to recognise the outcome in its financial statements for the first quarter of 2026.
The judgment remains subject to appeal, and the company said it will continue to assess the implications in accordance with applicable accounting and governance requirements.
