Rachmat Sudibyo, director general of oil and gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, is tipped to be the sole candidate for the position as head of the so-called Implementing Body which holds the highest oil and gas authority under existing oil and gas law, sources told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
?Rachmat will be the sole candidate for the Implementing Body,? the sources said.
Under the oil and gas law, which came into force late last year, the Implementing Body will take over the decades-long authority held by Pertamina to regulate and manage the country?s oil and gas industry.
The body has authority to sign oil and gas contracts, supervise and regulate the operation of oil and gas contractors. It is directly accountable to the President who has the authority to decide the composition of its board of management.
The government will issue in November a regulation on the formation of the Implementing Body. (Godang)
