SGX-listed Ramba Energy Limited reported that the Akatara-1 well confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in the Selong - Akatara cluster of Lemang Block in South Sumatra, after it has successfully drilled to a total depth of 6,400 feet.

The company said in a press statement on Monday that the Akatara-1 discovery well encounters 15 potential reservoir layers, with approximately 274 feet of gross pay.

Well log and pressure gradient analysis confirmed the hydrocarbon discovery in this structure. Drill Stem Test (DST) results revealed 11 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 380 barrels of condensate per day (BCPD) with 60? API gravity from the primary reservoir.

Following the test, Akatara-1 well has been temporarily suspended as of 27 April 2013 at 03:00 a.m. as an oil and gas discovery well pending further discussions with the relevant authorities for potential immediate field development. A full comprehensive extended well testing on the remaining potential reservoir layers is expected to be carried out in near future using a small rig for cost optimization.

The Company will make preparations to drill the Akatara-2 appraisal well. Drilling is expected to take approximately 26 days with testing to take approximately 28 days.

Ramba, through its local subsidiary, PT Hexindo Gemilang Jaya, holds a 51 percent working interest in the Lemang block.
