Singapore-listed firm Ramba Energy Limited said Monday its subsidiary Ramba Energy Jatirarangon (REJ) has on 9 September 2011, commenced drilling of the first 2 development wells in the Jatirarangon block located in West Java.

The JRR-7 well is the first of 2 wells to be drilled in the Western closure of the Jatirarangon block, with drilling of the JRR-6 well scheduled to commence immediately following the completion of the JRR-7 well.

The Western closure currently produces approximately 2.8 mmcfd of gas, and approximately 80 barrels of oil per day.

Preliminary estimates indicate natural gas production from the 2 development wells to be of approximately 4 mmcfd, the company said.

Development drilling operations are expected to take approximately 25 days for each well, with an additional 7 days for analysis.

REJ operates the Jatirarangon block with a 70 percent working interest whilst PT Wahana Sad Karya owns the remaining 30 percent as a non-operator. (alex)
