Ramba Energy to start W. Java TAC workover program

Singaporean listed firm Ramba Energy Limited announced Wednesday that its unit Ellipse Energy Jatirarangon Wahana Ltd (EEJW)has issued a letter of intent (LoI) to engage a drilling contractor to perform a workover program at its JRR-3 ST well in Jatirarangon TAC, West Java.

A land rig has been mobilised to the site on Nov. 2 and the JRR-3 ST Workover program is expected to start on Nov. 7 and take over 33 days to complete. It is estimated to cost approximately US$1.562 million, the company said.

The schedule and costs have been included in EEJW?s 2010 Work Program and Budget for the Jatirarangon Block and have been approved by Pertamina.

If the JRR-3 ST Workover proves to be successful, the gas from JRR-3 ST is expected to add approximately 2.0 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas to the existing production of 2.9 mmscfd, it said.

Drilling at the JRR-3 ST began in March 2006. However, the well was later shut down due to poor gas flow. A workover program was carried out on JRR-3 ST in February 2008, aimed to cement the lower perforated intervals and open up two additional intervals in the Lower Talang Akar Formation (LTAF) between the depths of 3,015m and 3,032m.

The upcoming JRR-3 ST Workover program is intended to ?squeeze-off? and abandon the LTAF zones and to perforate the following prospect gas zones: Baturaja (BRF) with depth 2,384m ? 2,394m, Cibulakan (CBA-7) with depth 1,171m ? 1,175m and Cisubuh (CSB-3) : 644m ? 649m

EEJW operates the Jatirarangon TAC with a 70 percent working interest whilst PT Wahana Sad Karya owns the remaining 30 percent as a non-operator. (denny)
