Ramba starts 2nd development drilling at W. Java block

Singapore-listed oil, gas firm Ramba Energy Limited reported on Satuirday that its subsidiary Ramba Energy Jatirarangon (REJ), has on 23 October 2011, commenced drilling of the second of 2 development wells in the Jatirarangon block, West Java.

The JRR-6 well is the second of 2 wells to be drilled in the Western closure of the Jatirarangon block, with the spud in of JRR-7 commencing on 9 September 2011 .

The Western closure currently produces approximately 2.8 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfd) and 80 barrels of oil per day (bopd).

Preliminary estimates indicate natural gas production from the 2 development wells to be of approximately 4.0 mmscfd, more than doubling gas production from the block, the company said.

For the JRR-6 well, the company has plans to drill up to a depth of 947 metres mMD, and has identified three intervals for the development production.

Development drilling operations for the JRR-6 well are expected to take approximately 25 days, with an additional 7 days for analysis.

On 29 September, the company announced that it successfully reached its target depth of 1,356 metres for the JRR-7 well. The company is currently testing the 6 zones with a total of 48 metres of potential sales gas that were indicated in the mud logs and quad combo open hole logging.

REJ operates the Jatirarangon block with a 70 percent working interest with PT Wahana Sad Karya owns the balance. (alex)
