SGX-listed Ramba Energy Ltd plans to drill two exploration wells namely Kusuma-1 and Kusuma-2 in the West Jambi KSO block, South Sumatra, according to an official at the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas.

Head of Survey and Drilling Division at SKK Migas, Ngatijan told Petromindo.com that the drilling of the Kusuma-1 well is expected to start in early October, which once completed will be followed with drilling of Kusuma-2.

He added that preparation of drilling location of Kusuma-1 has been fully completed, and 40 percent progress for Kusuma-2.

Ramba said in May that it was in discussion with a certain undisclosed party for a possible investment by the latter in the drilling operations in the West Jambi KSO.

The West Jambi KSO is located in the northern part of the hydrocarbon-rich South Sumatra basin, tectonically known as the back-arc basin. The asset is split into two areas; West Jambi I and West Jambi II. The block sits in a proven region for oil and gas exploration with transportation infrastructure nearby, such as the Trans Sumatra Pipeline, which directly intersects the asset.

In June 2011, Ramba Energy executed a KSO agreement with Indonesia?s state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, giving the company the rights to explore and exploit the asset for 20 years.

Ramba Energy controls 100 percent working interest (operator) of the West Jambi KSO.
