Rantau field to resume normal production in three weeks

State owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said that its Rantau oil field in the northern part of Sumatra is expected to begin normal production activities within the next three weeks as most of its production facilities are still unable to operate following a major flood which inundated many areas in the province recently.

President director of Pertamina EP Kun Kurnely said that Pertamina was currently repairing oil production facilities affected by the flood and "hopefully, the field can resume normal production activities within the next three weeks."

Kun said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the Rantau field which produced about 3,000 barrels per day in normal time could only produce at about 20 percent of its capacity at present.

"We are still calculating the potential loss resulting from the flood," he adding. (godang)
