Tin miner PT Refined Bangka Tin (RBT) launched on Tuesday reclamation program, called ?Green for Good,? for its ex-mining sites in Penyamun Village, Pemali District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

RBT President Director Reza Adriansyah told a press conference that the reclamation program will cover a total of 50 hectares of its former mine sites. In the initial phase, the company has set a target to cover around 10 hectares until end of this year, which will be replanted with food crops and forest crops to help create alternative income source for the local people and prevent them from reopening the ex-mines.

He added that the company will first introduce the program to the local communities before implementing it. Local cooperatives will be given the HGU land title to the ex-mines.

Bangka Belitung Governor Erzaldi Rosman welcomes the program, hoping that it could be sustainable. He expected some of the crops could already start giving income to the people in three months to help ensure the success of the program. He expected RBT to make coordination with the local administration to help ensure sustainability of the program.
