As of December 11, 2015, realized survey and drilling activities by contractors are below the target set in the 2015 Work Program and Budget (WP&B), upstream authority SKK Migas said.

"All the activities decreased, except for well maintenance programs which are almost close to the target," SKK Migas' Head of Public Relations Biantoro Elan said Sunday.

He said that oil and gas contractors in the country have carried out well maintenance program covering 29,492 wells, or 87 percent of the targeted 34,060 wells.

"The well maintenance program is related to opex (operational expenditure) and is a must in production activity. If well service is not done or reduced, (production) decline will occur sharply," he explained.

Other activities include work-over program. Out of the targeted 1,354 wells, as many as 1,290 wells have been realized, or 95 percent of the target.

Elan said that drilling and survey activities have been below target among others because the lingering drop in oil price has altered the original calculation of the economics of the projects.
