Australia listed-miner Realm Resources Limited is expecting to commence production of thermal coal from its Katingan Ria project this year. The company claimed that for over land transportation at mine site a dedicated access road to mine area and connecting to barge port already secured.

Realm Resources's Managing Director Andrew Matheson said that permits processing for the project is in final stage. The company was granted mining license (IUP OP) in August 2011, while the Forestry permit (Izin Pinjam Pakai) granted for exploration in June 2011 is currently being upgraded to permit operations. "It is anticipated to be completed in March 2012," said Matheson in a company's presentation available to ASX on Monday.

Matheson said the company had proposed open cut mining. Katingan Ria will produce sub-bituminous, mid-rank, low sulphur thermal coal. It will be suitable for current generation of coal fired power plants being built in the region. "Discussions with potential customers are in progress," he said.

Located in Central Kalimantan, Katingan Ria is located about 100km northwest of Kasongan on Katingan River. The project offers promising features that may result in the supply of significant volumes of the product to market. Katingan Ria has inferred resource of about 79MT (JORC).
