Ngurah Adnyana, the director for operation of PLN, said that the reclamation could reduce the generation capacity of three power plants including PLTGU Muara Karang, PLTGU Priok and PLGU Muara Tawar, which are located in the coastal areas in the northern part of Jakarta.
He said that provincial development board of Jakarta administration had set up a team to review the reclamation program. The team which has worked since November and to continue until the end of March, this year, has received inputs from related parties including PLN to ensure that its impact on business activities could be minimized.
Adnyana said that the reclamation could increase the temperature of the water for the cooling system of the power plants. If the temperature of the water rose 1 degree centigrade, it could cause a loss of as much as 10 megawatt in the power generation capacity or cause financial loss of Rp 567 million for each power plant.
