Regency in S Kalimantan prepares mining law

Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) regency in South Kalimantan is preparing a mining law, which will be used as the main legal base for the development of mining in the regency, Banjarmasin Pos daily reported on Saturday.

?The draft of the law has been completed. It will be soon submitted to the regency?s legislative council for deliberation,? the head of the regency?s mining office Akhmadsyah Adnan.

The draft law comprises of regulations on the extension of concession rights to investors including to for coal mining development, he said, adding that the draft is based on the central government?s mining policy so that its implementation will not cause inconsistency with the existing legal instruments.

HSU is the only regency in the province which has drafted its mining law following the implementation of the autonomy law early this year. (*)
