Regional Coal: Komipo sees increase in 2010 coal consumption

South Korean power generator Korea Midland Power Co Ltd (Komipo) sees its 2010 thermal coal requirement to increase to 14 million tonnes from 12 MT last year.
Senior Manager Generation Fuel Team Kim You-Shin said on Friday that the company has contracted and priced 9 MT of 2010 coal and the remaining 5 MT is still open either through contract or spot basis.
Majority of the contracted coal came from Indonesian producer, he said without giving detail.
The Company in January 2010 held a tender to supply 2.3 MT but was only managed to secure 1.4 MT contract from one undisclosed Indonesian supplier. He said the balance would be secured through spot market. (denny)
