Regional Coal: Reliance Energy plans Indian 12,000 MW coal plant

India's Reliance Energy Ltd. plans to invest about 480 billion rupees ($11 billion) to set up a 12,000-megawatt, coal-based power generation project in the eastern state of Orissa, its chairman said on Wednesday.

"This will, by far, be the world's largest pithead coal-based power plant at a single location," Anil Ambani told shareholders at its annual general meeting as quoted by agencies. (*)
