Regional LNG: Clough AMEC awarded A$150m contract extension

ASX-listed engineering and project services company Clough Limited announced Wednesday that its subsidiary Clough AMEC has been awarded a two year contract extension by ConocoPhillips to provide operations and maintenance services to the Bayu-Undan facilities, located in the Timor Sea. The contract extension has an estimated value of AU$150 million.

Bayu-Undan consists of a floating storage and offloading facility and three fixed platforms, a remote wellhead platform, and a compression, utilities and quarters platform, which is bridge-linked to a drilling, production and processing platform.

Clough AMEC is an incorporated joint venture established to provide brownfield engineering, operations and maintenance services to clients in the Australasian oil & gas industry. The joint venture has provided asset integrity management and implementation services to the Bayu-Undan facilities since July 2004.

The Bayu-Undan gas field was discovered in 1995. The gas condensate field has an estimated recoverable reserves of 400 million barrels condensate and LPG, and 3.4 trillion cf of natural gas. The field lies in 80 meters depth of water, 50 kilometers south of Suai, Timor-Leste, and 500 kilometers northwest of Darwin, Australia.

The reservoir gas is stripped of its liquid (LPG and condensate) which is then stored in the FPSO Liberdade. The lean gas is piped 500-km southeast to Darwin where it is processed into LNG.

ConocoPhillips is the operator of the field. Other parties that hold interest in the field are INPEX of Japan, Santos of Australia, Tokyo Electric Power and Tokyo Gas.
