Regional LNG: MLNG Tiga delivers first shipment to Korea Gas

MALAYSIA LNG Tiga Sdn Bhd (MLNG Tiga), a subsidiary of Petronas, has delivered the first shipment under a contract to supply up to 2.82 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) from October 2004 to April 2008, Bernama reported.

The cargo was delivered on Oct 8, Petronas said in a statement yesterday.

The new volume is in addition to the existing two million tonnes per annum (mtpa), seven-year supply agreement signed between the two parties in 2003.

The LNG will be supplied from the MLNG Tiga plant located at the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu Sarawak and will be delivered to Kogas? receiving terminals in Incheon, Pyeong Taek and Tong Young in South Korea via tankers owned and operated by Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Bhd (MISC), another subsidiary of Petronas.

The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur between MLNG Tiga chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, who is also the president and chief executive officer of Petronas and Kogas chairman, president and chief executive officer, Oh Kang Hyun.(*)
