Malaysian state oil firm Petronas is in talks with Chinese parties for possible supply of LNG for the Shanghai energy project , Malaysia Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said Tuesday as quoted by The Edge Daily.
He said Malaysia is ?in the position? to supply energy to China as the latter is keen on securing energy for the development of its economy.
?I have broached the subject with the Chinese leaders. We have not come to a point of making a formal decision.
?Petronas is negotiating with the right people there. We hope China will decide in favour of Malaysia for the Shanghai energy project,? he told reporters in Petaling Jaya on Aug 22 after opening the Malaysia-China Economic Conference 2006.(*)
