Regional LNG: PTT, Qatargas in LNG supply deal

Thai energy firm PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) reported on Wednesday that on February 3, 2008 it had signed Heads of Agreement (HOA) with Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas), for the long-term purchase of 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

Under the HOA, the LNG will be supplied into PTT LNG Receiving Terminal, located in Tumbon Maap Ta Put, Amphur Mueng, Rayong Province, the terminal construction completion and import of which wil be in the year 2011.

The procurement of the LNG is to secure energy for Thailand and to cope with the increasing demand in natural gas, mainly in power sector, industrial and transportation.(denny)
