Monday, September 29 2003 - 11:41 PM WIB
Singapore's Energy Market Authority is studying the feasibility of importing liquefied natural gas after 2010, Channel News Asia reported.
The Authority's Chief Executive Khoo Chin Hean says Singapore wants to diversify its energy sources to ensure supply security.
It also wants to diversify its gas supplies for national security reasons.
Singapore currently receives its natural gas from Indonesia via two pipelines and from Malaysia via one pipeline.
To import the LNG, it would have to construct an LNG receiving terminal.(*)
