Regional Military Chief visits Unocal oil field in East Kalimantan

Regional Military Chief Djoko Besariman visited Unocal Indonesia's Attaka offshore oil field in East Kalimantan on Thursday.

Djoko was supposed to also visit the Santan Terminal area in Kutai regency, but was canceled because he had to immediately fly to Jakarta, the local Kaltim Post daily said.

Regarding the social and security problems faced by oil and gas companies, Djoko expected the companies to improve coordination with the military office so that the military command could help provide ways to resolve the problem.

Djoko also said that the current reform movement had its negative excess. He said that some people perceive democracy as a freedom without any limit.(*)
