Regulation for Pertamina?s EOR projects to be issued soon

Upstream authority SKK Migas will soon issue a regulation on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) works to be carried out by state owned oil and gas company Pertamina.

?Hopefully, within one or two weeks, the regulation could be issued. Technically, the regulation has been ready, but we need to check its legal aspect,? SKK Migas?s chief Rudi Rubiandini said quoted by Investor Daily.

He said that the special EOR regulation to be issued for Pertamina would be part of general regulations for EOR operations conducted by oil and gas production sharing contractors.

According to him, Pertamina would be given a priority to become the first to receive a EOR regulation because many companies have waited to become the contractors of the company?s EOR projects. ?If Pertamina has to wait, these companies might lose their interest to carry out the works.? he said.

Rudi said that the EOR regulations for other oil and gas producers would be issued after the upstream oil and gas regulator completed the issuance for Pertamina.

According to him, such regulations are necessary to simplify the procedures which have to be followed by oil and gas producers in conducting the EOR projects. ?With the new regulation, Pertamina will, for example, no longer need to wait for the issuance of authorization for expenditure (AFE) to carry out its EOR works ,? he added.
