The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will soon issue a new regulation on tariff of electricity purchased by state-owned power firm PT PLN from solar power plants, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Maritje Hutapea, a director at the ministry?s Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy said that the regulation on the feed-in tariff is expected to help lure new investment in the development of solar power plants in the country.

He said that the final draft of the regulation has been submitted to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said for approval.

The paper said that the previous regulation, Ministerial Regulation No 17/2013 has been revoked by the Supreme Court, forcing investors to negotiate directly with PLN. Maritje said that when the new feed in tariff ministerial regulation has been issued, investors will no longer need to negotiate the tariff with PLN. She declined to provide further details. (*)
