Regulations for new mining law ready in September

Four regulations for the implementation of the new Mining Law No. 4, 2009 are expected to be issued in September, this year.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said in its website Friday that the four regulations which are being drafted by the government are respectively called "Draft Governmental Regulation on Mining Areas, Draft Governmental Regulation on the Execution of Mineral and Coal Mining Business, Draft Governmental Regulation on Mineral and Coal Mining Supervision and Guidance, Draft Governmental Regulation on Post-Mining Reclamation.

?We hope all the four draft governmental regulations can be completed in September,? Director for Mining Supervision Gatot Ariyono said during a seminar on the implementation of the new mining law in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The seminar discussed several important topics such as the licensing mining procedures and mandatory divestment process of foreign investors? ownership under the new law. (bernard)
