PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), a construction and engineering company, expects to handle the construction of 43 geothermal power plants in Indonesia in the next few years, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.

Rekind has been involved in the construction and development of geothermal power plants since 1993. At present, the company is not only involved in the construction works but also in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities.

?Since 1993, Rekind has built 12 geothermal power plants. In the future, we expect to build 43 geothermal power plants which will be developed as part of the second 10,000 megawatt power plant fast track development program,? Rekind?s director for operation, Dharma Balen, said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, with its experience and track record, Rekind has the capacity to give its positive contribution to the country?s geothermal power generation.

?Indonesia plays an important role in the development of the geothermal energy as at least 40 percent of the world?s geothermal reserves are found in Indonesia,? he was quoted as saying by Antara. (*)
