Rekind secures EPC project worth US$997m from Petronas

National civil engineering company PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) has secured contract from Petronas to build Sabah Ammonia Urea (Samur project) in Sabah, Malaysia.

The project will be developed jointly with MHI and Apex with total value of US$997 million ?50 percent for MHI and 50 percent for Rekind and Apex.

The scope of the works include basic and detail engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. The plant will produce fertilizer with composition as follows: ammonia 92,100 MTPD), urea synth (3,500 MTPD) and urea granule (3,850 MTPD).

The project is another milestone for Rekind. The other regional EPC projects that have been developed by Rekind were NPK fertilizer plant in Malaysia (Nafas Bajakimia Sdn Bhd) and Brunei Methanol Plant.

Apart from having had competency in refinery and petrochemical EPC, Rekind has also become pioneer in the development of geothermal & power plant, mineral, coal and oil & gas. (godang/giok)
