Rekind teams up with Toyo, SK Energy to develop Cilacap RFCC project

State-owned engineering firm PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) teams up with South Korean firm SK Energy and Japanese firm Toyo Engineering Corp. to bid the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) tender of Pertamina?s fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) in Cilacap refinery complex, Central Java.

Rekind?s president director Triharyo Indrawan Soesilo said on Thursday that Rekind had just submitted a biding document, adding that company did not interested to buy any stake in the project.

Pertamina will expect soon announce the winner of the tender for EPC in this month.

Pertamina initially planned to build the new cracking unit with its own resources in cooperation with Japanese firm Mitsui Corp. The two companies had agreed to form a joint venture to handle the EPC works of the US$1.5 billion project. Mitsui latter withdrew from the project.

The new RFCC, the second cracking unit at the Cilacap refinery complex, will process residual fuel products into high octane fuel. It was initially scheduled for commercial operation in 2012. (godang)
