Rekind to build gas-fired power plant

State port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III ( Pelindo III) will cooperate with state owned engineering company PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) to build a gas-fired power plant with capacity of 2 x 25 megawatt near Surabaya, East Java, Kontan reported on Wednesday.

Djarwo Surjanto, the president director of Pelindo III, said on Tuesday that the port operator had named Rekind to carry out the construction of the power plant in Teluk Lamong. ?At present, the project is still under feasibility study,? he said, adding that the company was also still preparing the financial, legal and commercial aspects of the power plant.

Husein Latif, the commercial director of Pelindo III, said that the power plant which would be used to support the operation of the Teluk Lamong terminal would be able to have capacity of 120 MW. ?But, the initial stage, the plant will have capacity of 50 MW, with investment of Rp 1 trillion,? he said, adding that the terminal was scheduled for operation in November 2013.
