Rekind to start well drilling for Cisolok geothermal project

PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) will begin drilling of wells for a geothermal energy project in Cisolok, West Java in mid 2012 to tap geothermal energy resources in the area, Bisnis Indonesia reported.

The EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) company entering geothermal business after winning a geothermal energy project in Cisolok worth US$124 million.

?Rekind is no longer just an EPC company, but also holding (geothermal energy) concession in Cisolok. We are now finalizing feasibility study (FS), geology and geophysics survey,? said Director for Operation of Rekind, Alex Dharma Balen.

Alex said the results of the feasibility study will be used as basis for conducting well drilling. The drilling is aimed to find reservoir. ?If reservoir is proven, it will be easier for us to seek financing for further drilling,? he said.

He expects Cisolok geothermal power plant will come onstream in 2014. Rekind plans to build two units of geothermal power plant in the first stage ? 1x45 MW and 1x50 MW. (*)
