Rekonhilir, one of several regencies in Riau province expects to raise at least Rp 5 billion from its own revenue sources to finance its April-December budget, a senior government official at the regency has said.
Iwan Ahmad Syaiful, the head of the regency's department for local revenue affairs, said on Friday that he was quite optimistic about the target given the large amount of natural resources located in the regency.
He said that most of the natural resources in the regency's six districts were still untapped such as the water source in Tanah Putih district, which has become the main source of Caltex Pacific Indonesia and Pertamina's raw water supply.
"From the water source along, the regency could generate at least Rp 4 billion a day," he said, adding that more local tax receipts could be also raised from the exploration activities carried out by Caltex in its 43 oil wells in the regency. (*)
